Occupational therapy treats people, who are suffering from mental and physical problems. They use certain aids and remedies to cure those people, who are physically handicapped or have any body impairment, or are going through any emotional and mental stress. There are two levels for the graduation. One, the occupational therapy aids and other the occupational therapy assistants. The salary for the former ranges from $12,000 to $15,000, and the salary for the another program ranges from $17,000 to $26,000. The salary depends upon the therapist's experiences.

The candidate wishing to become an occupational therapist needs to qualify the high school diploma and the two-year training, which goes hand in hand with the job. In the first year of education, the student is taught about the basic health care, certain medications and other terminologies related to physical impairments. The second year's study involves a higher level of information and techniques about mental or physical disturbances. Occupational therapy assistant training is very necessary to be a therapist.

Experienced and professional therapists are certified by the state government and are often given a chance to direct a seminar at state level. There is a greater need for occupational therapists and around 15,000 seats are vacant for them. It is due to increasing physical and mental stress that more therapists are required.
